How do I check my network identification settings?

Follow these steps to check your computer, workgroup and computer description settings.

Note: Please check with your network administrator before changing any of these settings. You may require administrator rights to change them.

Check your network settings in Windows ME 
• Open the My Computer folder, then open the Control Panel 
• Open the Network control panel and select the Identification tab 
• Your Computer, Workgroup and Computer description fields are on this page tab 
• Click OK to save any changes

Check your network settings in Windows 2000 
• Right click on the My Computer icon and select Properties from the drop-down menu 
• Select the Network Identification tab 
• Click Properties 
• The Computer Name and Workgroup/Domain Name fields are on this page

Check your network settings in Windows XP 
• Right click on the My Computer folder and select Properties 
• Click the Computer Name tab 
• The Computer description field is on this page tab 
• Click Change to change the Computer Name, Workgroup or Domain 
• Click OK to save any changes

Check your network settings in Windows Vista 
• Right click on the Computer folder and select Properties 
• The Computer description field is on this page at the bottom 
• Click the Change settings button to change the Computer Name, Workgroup or Domain 
• Click X to save any changes
