Direct Debit
Know your bill is getting paid on time.

Once set up, your monthly Telecom bill will be paid automatically from your bank account on the due date.

Changes can be made to your direct debit payment up to two days before your due date.

    Your payments will always be on time because we arrange with your bank to transfer the billed amount on your due date. 
  • Easy to set up
    Once you provide your bank account details, your payments are automatically taken care of.

What if I can't afford it one month?
Contact Us at least two days before your due date and we'll suspend your payment or change the amount to one that suits you giving you the freedom to pay us via another method.

The due date of my bill doesn't suit me.
Select which day of the month you would like to pay your bill, just fill out our Change Bill Statement Date Form.

What happens next?

  • Your current bill will not be paid via direct debit. You will need to pay this bill as normal to avoid a Late Payment Fee
  • We will acknowledge the receipt of your direct debit authority by mail
  • We will contact your bank to set up the direct debit

Monthly Automatic Credit / Debit Card
Automatically pay your account on the due date

Once set up, the full amount of your bill will be paid automatically from your credit card on the due date each month.

Amendments can be made to your automatic credit payment up to two days before your due date.

We accept payments from Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Diners.

    Your payments will always be on time because we arrange with your credit card provider to transfer the billed amount on your due date. Prompt payment helps you avoid Late Payment Fees.
  • Easy to set up
    Once you've provided your credit card details, your payments are automatically taken care of.

A 1.5% (+GST, if any) surcharge will apply to monthly automatic credit/debit card payments. This is to cover the cost of processing credit/ debit card payments (including merchant fees and operating costs) only; Telecom doesn't profit from this fee. There are other payment options available that don't have a surcharge.

Automatic Payment (AP)
Great for budgeting. Pay a fixed amount regularly to spread the cost.

Make regular payments of a fixed amount to your account automatically.

    Make frequent, smaller payments than if you pay the whole account at once.
     
  • Be in control
    Choose to make payments weekly, fortnightly or monthly and because your automatic payment is arranged between you and your bank, you can change, suspend or cancel your AP at any time.

    Most banks allow you to set up and manage automatic payments 24/7 through internet and phone banking so you won't need to speak to someone or visit a branch.

How much should my AP be?

Set Up Automatic Payment

Set up your AP with your bank. You will need your Telecom account number handy.

  • Internet or phone banking:
    Most banks allow customers to create and manage automatic payments online or over the phone. When asked for a Reference, use your Telecom account number.
     
  • At your bank:
    Print a copy of this Automatic Payment Form - pdf, and take it into your bank. Enter your Telecom account number in the Reference field.

  • Contact your bank to cancel your automatic payment arrangement

Card providers charge a convenience fee (a percentage of the payment) for one off payments. Telecom applies the convenience fee for Visa/MasterCard payments, Diners and American Express payments are charged by the card issuer directly.

Make a One-Off Credit Card Payment

Card providers charge a convenience percentage of the one off payments.  Telecom applies the convenience fee for Visa/MasterCard payments . Diners and American Express payments are charged by the card issuer directly.

  • Cancellations must be requested before 6PM for business customers and before 9PM for residential customers.

Set up

You will need your account number handy, this is the Payee Reference which ensures your payments go against your Telecom account.

Log into your bank account from your phone or computer and set up Telecom as a bill payee. Our bank details are already loaded for all major New Zealand banks.

Post your payment. To avoid late payment fees, allow enough time for us to receive and process your payment.

It can take up to 7 business days to receive and process a cheque payment. We recommend you consider quicker payment options.

Pay by Cheque
Include your payment slip in the envelope or write your Telecom account number and name on the back of the cheque.

Pay Multiple Accounts by Cheque
Write each account number and the value of payment for it on the back of the cheque.

Canceling a Cheque Payment
Contact your bank to cancel your cheque. Telecom cannot stop a cheque payment as they are sent directly to our bank.

Pay over the counter at  any Post Shop or agent.
* Please note that a $1.50 Over Counter Fee applies for manual processing at a Post shop

New Zealand Post accepts payments of Telecom accounts by cheque, EFTPOS or cash*.
To avoid late payment fees, allow enough time for us to receive your payment. Payments take up to 2 business days to appear against your account.

  • Pay by cash 
    If your preferred way to pay for things is cash, then New Zealand Post will accept your payment. None of our other payment methods are cash-friendly.
